What is Shopify?
In its simplest form, Shopify is a web software platform that makes it possible for you to build your online store. Shopify’s tools are focused on the operational needs of a business. All of Shopify’s products are all-inclusive for brands, such as managing inventory, shipping, managing payments, and customer support.
How Shopify can help you
A lot of eCommerce platforms, even the reputable ones, don’t come with all the necessary tools or support needed to be successful in running your online store. However, Shopify is a one-stop-shop. Whether you need to convert traffic or whether you need a great customer support team, Shopify offers a wide range of tools that are necessary for your business to succeed.
How Shopify compares to other eCommerce platforms
Shopify is a direct competitor of another leading eCommerce platform – BigCommerce. So, how does BigCommerce compare? It has a range of features that Shopify doesn’t have (like Facebook marketing support, Android compatibility) but they do have some similar functions such as Google Analytics integration. So, the main differences are the Features. Shopify and BigCommerce Charge per shipment If you want to ship to a large number of stores at once, you can choose to charge them separately. For Shopify, you can calculate a shipping fee based on the weight and the destination. You can calculate the shipping fee based on the distance you’re sending the goods to, or based on weight and/or destination. The fee can be as low as $0.03 per product or the total cost can be based on weight and destination. For BigCommerce you can calculate the shipping fee based on the weight and the destination. For every shipment, you can define the weight and you can calculate the shipping fee. The shipping fee can be calculated according to the distance you’re sending the goods to or according to the weight and destination. The shipping fee can be as low as $0.03 per product or the total cost can be based on weight and destination. Store Owners can choose to charge the shipping fees based on weight and the destination to be fairer to the users. In addition, BigCommerce also offers a shipping policy that defines how you can ship to a particular country. Both platforms offer the same shipping policies. Trans-European shipping policies such as the EU, Japan, and Australia as well as destination-based policies like Mexico, USA, Canada, etc. The biggest difference between the two platforms is the number of supported eCommerce stores. With Shopify, Shopify supports about 12,000 merchants, whereas, BigCommerce supports over 3 million merchants.
